Rain Day Policy for Parents

At BNSC, we believe in embracing the fun and excitement that rain can bring to outdoor activities. We encourage children to play in the rain, as long as it is safe to do so. To ensure the safety of all participants, we have implemented the following rain day policy:

• Rain Play:  Unless there is lightning directly above, we will proceed with the scheduled games and activities even in rainy weather. Playing in the rain can be a unique and enjoyable experience for children, fostering resilience and a sense of adventure so dress appropriately and bring your umbrella!
• Lightning Safety:  If there is lightning directly above the playing area or local vicinity, we will implement a 10 - 15-minute game delay. Referees will instruct everyone to go wait in their cars for a maximum of 15 minutes.  Thunderstorms often pass over quickly, and this short delay will allow time for the storm to move away. The delay also serves as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of all participants.
• Cancellation Decision:  In the event that the weather or field conditions are deemed unsafe or unplayable, a decision to cancel the games will be made at 5:30 pm on the day of the scheduled activity. This decision will be based on weather forecasts, radar information, and the assessment of field conditions and is at the sole discretion of the League. 
• Website Notification:  It is the responsibility of all parents to check the ASC United website for cancellation details before every game. The website will be updated with any cancellations or changes by 5:30 pm on the day of the scheduled activity. We understand that weather conditions can be unpredictable, and safety is our utmost priority. By adhering to this rain day policy, we aim to strike a balance between embracing the joy of playing in the rain and ensuring the well-being of our participants.

Please note that games cancelled for weather will only be rescheduled after two games have been missed.

Heat Alert Announcement

Dear Parents and Guardians,

During forecasted heat alerts, we want to inform you that games will continue as scheduled unless otherwise noted above. However, the safety and well-being of your child is our utmost priority.

Participation during these heat conditions is at the sole discretion of the parents. Every child is different, and we trust you to make the best decision for your child.

To accommodate for the heat, we will be implementing the following measures:

• Shortening shifts to reduce prolonged exposure to the heat.
• Adding more water breaks to ensure the children stay hydrated.

We strongly encourage you to:

• Bring plenty of water for your child.
• Provide shade protection, such as hats and umbrellas.
