COVID-19 PROTOCOL & CHANGES TO THE GAME

image250

WE ARE KEEPING YOU SAFE, active & healthy!

Pre-Season COVID Informed Consent Waivers are now part of the online registration waiver process.

We will also require all players to download the PowerUP Connect App so that we can complete the MANDATORY COVID-19 Check in which needs to be done before you can enter the field!  This app will fast track you through the field check in process and you can do it on your phone.

Until further notice & changes to the Provincial COVID-19 safety measures, we will only be allowing 50 people for each outdoor field at one time as per the government regulations.

What this means right now (until the Provincial guidelines change) for the upcoming outdoor season:

  • ONLY ONE Parent/Guardian will be allowed to attend with their child. (no siblings)
  • All spectators & coaching staff must wear masks & maintain physical distancing.
  • Players will also be required to wear masks when they are off the field and to also maintain distancing as much as possible.
  • We will have extra staff and volunteers to help maintain protocol

Please continue to scroll down to reads how to upload the PowerUp Connect App  for Changes to the Game and for Facility Guidelines

Power Up Connect App - Event Check in

Changes to the Game

  • Upon entering the arena you must be wearing a mask and sign in and show your MANDATORY COVID EVENT CHECK IN - This can be accessed through your phone and the PowerUp Connect APP.
  • There will be a 5 warm up. Games will be to 40 minutes consisting of 6  shift changes.  There will be no skill of the week training - this will remain online for players to practice at home.  Skill of the Week will be posted every Sunday and should be practiced three times a week for a minimum of 30 minutes.
  •  To allow time for players to leave between games there will be 15 minutes between each game.  We ask that you leave by the designated exit door immediately after your game has finished.
  • To reduce body fluid transfer onto ball surface, heading of the ball has been removed for this phase. After the first verbal warning, heading of ball will result in an indirect free kick for the opposing team.
  • Walls for Free Kicks – Defender and Attacker deliberate contact is not permitted when creating a wall. After the first verbal warning, failure to comply will result in an indirect free kick to opposing team.
  • Throw-ins are not permitted. The ball must be kicked into play (kick-in). All other requirements of Throw-In Law will still be applied. After the first verbal warning, failure to comply will result in a kick-in to opposing team.
  • Corner kicks: Defender and Attacker deliberate contact is not permitted. After the first verbal warning, failure to comply will result in a goal kick to the defending team.
  • The drop ball requirement has been removed to reduce handling of the ball and has been converted to an indirect free kick. If the drop ball is inside the penalty area after hitting the Referee, the ball automatically goes to the Goalkeeper. The Referee leaves the ball on the ground, and the Goalkeeper picks it up..
  • No goal celebrations are permitted which incorporates physical touching.
  • With modified games compliance with social distancing rules and safety protocols must be followed.
  • When a player is injured, Match Officials may only observe and refer assistance to the applicable team bench. There is to be no Match Official contact with the player. Only the parent and/or team coach, following proper health and safety protocols may assist the injured player.
  •  There will be no handshakes or high 5’s between players, match officials, coaches before, during or after the game.
  •  It is recommended that Match Officials take the necessary safety precautions to limit the risk of infection for themselves - wearing masks are optional while officiating.
  • After games and at half time, limit your distance to two (2) meters (6 feet) from others.
  • Avoid contact with others, such as hand shaking, fist bumps and high fives.
  • Leave the field as soon as reasonably possible after training or games.
