SKILL OF THE WEEK 1 - EFFECTIVE SWITCHING - WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW

Although some of you may not think this as a skill but you are totally wrong.  Quick effectively switching of your players can give you advantage!  Teams will only be given 30 seconds to make the switch and if you are not ready after the 30 seconds when the whistle blows to restart the play you could be left short, unprepared and not ready.  A good switch will keep the flow of the game moving and could lead to scoring opportunities if your opponent is not as on the ball as you are!

At the first game after the warm up we are going to practice the switch.  We will do a moch switch on the field a couple of times so everyone gets the hang of it.

KEY POINTS TO A GOOD SWITCH

  • KEEP YOUR BENCH ORGANIZED
  • Players know their positions before the switch
  • Make sure ALL your players are watching the game so when the switch happens they know where the play will resume
  • Make sure ALL players receive EQUAL PLAYING TIME  - Everyone paid the same so they play the same
  • Keep the game moving - switches must be done within 30 seconds of the whistle.  The Referee will blow the whistle after the 30 seconds and restart the play whether teams are ready or not -- DON'T get caught !
  • And the ENERGY HIGH!
